About

I am a multidisciplinary visual artist working in the time-based mediums of film & live performance, and also 2D artworks.

My artworks are inspired by Hergé, (the creator of Tintin), and his philosophy of the ‘clear line’. While the style of my artworks might be derived from fiction & fantasy, the subject matter is rooted in reality.

In a world mired in friction and confrontation, my work serves as a visual meditation on the harsh narratives of political and social conflict, clarifying the issues with bold line, form and colour.

Lines become more than mere strokes; they are contested boundaries, representing the societal divisions that shape our collective experience. The simplicity of a line belies the complexity of the issues it encapsulates, inviting viewers to confront the multifaceted nature of political and social conflict.

Forms, reduced to their essential components, mirror the stark realities of power dynamics, resistance, and oppression. Through simplification, I aim to create visual metaphors that resonate with the viewer's experience and perception of the world around them.

Colour, in this context, becomes a powerful tool for emotional expression and commentary. Each hue is chosen with intent, reflecting the emotional landscape of political and social conflict; the juxtaposition of colours speaks to the tension, hope, despair, and resilience embedded in the narratives of strife and struggle.

Through the deliberate reduction of the visual elements, I seek to prompt reflection and dialogue on the pressing issues of our times. The simplicity of the work is not an avoidance of complexity but a means to distil conflict to its fundamental essence and injustice, encouraging the viewer to confront the uncomfortable truths embedded in political discord, providing a visual lens through which we can collectively navigate the landscapes of our shared humanity.
